The purpose of this thesis is to give an overview of the protection personal data, as well as to bring guidance and offer guidance relating to the increase need for protection of privacy of employes, particularly because employers are increasingly using methods which severely violates the privacy of employees in the workplace. These operating conditions are causing the dissatisfaction among employees that may affect their working results, furthermore many have a great effect on their health, especially in causes when the purpose can be achieved by less invasive means. The fact that the modern technology and IT are rapidly developing are in employers favor, as well as the new techniques that collect personal data, such as video and audio surveillance, telecommunication network, Internet, biometrics and other widespread methods. Legal regulations are trying o follow those techniques to protect personal data as well as the individual's right to privacy. The research for this study is based on the examples from the practice, which point on out the issues in privacy and personal data protection of employees, focusing on the legal framework for data protection in the Republic of Croatia. As an employee of the Personal Data Protection Agency, Department of Personal data protection, those are the issues on a daily basis I've been encountered.
