Subject of this graduate thesis is introduction with the concept of medias and litigation where medias themselves are the defendants. The claim in media litigation can be directed on publication of amendment or answer of an information, cessation on violation of personality rights, damages and restitution of paid but not due. Publisher, editor in chief and journalist are the defendants who appear in those kind of litigations. Generally responsible person is the publisher, but if there is gross negligence or guilt on the side of editor in chief and/or journalist, responsibility is joint and several. On the same way, indemnity is analyzed especially emphasizing non-material damages. The thesis also studies personality rights, especially elaborating the right to dignity, honour and reputation and the right to privacy. Thesis also analyzes Regulation (EU) 2016/679/GDPR, application of which started in Croatia during the end of May of this year. It modernizes and improves the area of general data protection. Taking into account that right to privacy, right to good reputation and honour and right to the protection of personal data are matching in some issues, this thesis will point out the differencies between them. Seeing the Media Act as a „lex specialis“, its regulations will be analyzed through the whole paper, just like the necessity of its revisions. Subject of the thesis is also ethics of journalists in their work, just like the discussion on the topic of (non)admissibility of revision in media litigation.
