Assisted reproduction is used as a collective name for all procedures that are used to assist and control the oocyte reproduction, embryo tranfer, pregnancy implantation and development. Before the terminological definition of assisted reproduction, this paper will explain the concept of infertility, itꞌs categorization, possible causes of itꞌs occurrence, the influence of the psyche on infertility and the influence of infertility on the human psyche. Furthermore, given that there are several types of assisted reproduction, they will be described in more details, their origin will be shown, as well as the first procedures of assisted reproduction in the Republic of Croatia. Considering the topic itself and the numerous challenges the topic carries with it, legal regulation is important. In accordance with it, the Law on Medically Assisted Reproduction will be elaborated, also as the rights and limitations of each person in this area. Although the importance of each person's need to become a parent in their life is recognized and the Croatian Institute for Health Insurance has provided four attempts of intrauterine insemination and six attempts of „in vitro“ reproduction, there is an even greater need for co-financing additional attempts at assisted reproduction. With that said, this paper will show the availability of co-financing and rights of itꞌs use. In conclusion, from the point of view of social work and similar professions, there will be described which professional supports are possible as complementary methods of treatment.
