Easements are, by legal definition, limited real rights over the property of another. The essential conditions are that it is a real right on the property of another and that the holder of that right can use the property and that the owner has to endure it. The essential principles and characteristics of real rights are applicable on easements, which is why they are regulated by the Law on Property and Other Proprietary Rights. Various forms of easements were known in the oldest legislations, especially in the Roman Law, where the legal basis and ways of formation, forms and contents have changed due to effluxion of time and social conditions, but most of them are kept in present legislations. I have explained real rights on the property of another, the development of easements in Roman Law, definition and mutual principles of easements, subjects and objects of easements and different kinds of easements. I have written in more detail about real easements like the urban and rural easements. I have explained how they are established and how they end. I have finished my thesis with the protection of the right of easement which is an important element for the realisation of the right of easement.
