A bill of exchange is regulated by the Law on Bills of Exchange and is divided into a traced bill of exchange and personal bill of exchange. The traced bill of exchange is the most represented in legal circulation. With a bill of exchange, the issuer of the bill of exchange (drawer) gives an order to another person (drawee) to pay the amount stated in the promissory note to the beneficiary of the bill of exchange (sender). In the case of a bill of exchange, the issuer undertakes to pay the amount of the bill of exchagne to the creditor upon maturity. A bill of exchange must contain essential ingredients in order to be valid, an exception to this rule is found in a blank bill of exchange, which does not contain all the essential ingredients but fulfills them later. The drawee's expression of willingness to accept the payment order is called acceptance. The payment of the bill of exchange can be secured for the entire amount of the bill of exchange or for a certain part of it by means of a bill of exchange guarantee or aval. With this insurance, a third person (guarantee) is included in the bill of exchange legal relationship, but this insurance can also be provided by one of the signatories of the promissory note. A bill of exchange can be transferred by endorsement or cession. Regress is a bill of exchange action by which the holder of the bill of exchange (regressive) collects the sum of the bill of exchange from the obligee of the bill of exchange (regressor), who can be the drawee, endorser, guarantor and others. The bill of exchange law prescribes the statute of limitations for a bill of exchange claim, after which the debtor no longer has the obligation to fulfill it. In the introductory part of the paper, the conceptual definition and essential components of the bill of exchange are first discussed. The central part of the work deals with exchange actions. In the conclusion, an overview is given of the invitation law regulation in the context of the current market conditions in the Republic of Croatia.
