| Abstract | U Europi 1700-ih godina monarhija je bila norma, državno uređenje u kome monarh na svoju funkciju dolazi po nasljednom pravu, a rijeđe izborom među nasljednim pravom ograničenim kandidatima članovima vladajuće porodice ili najjačim plemićima u državi. Kako su se ideje o društvenim pitanjima razvijale za vrijeme prosvjetiteljstva, mnogi su dovodili u pitanje opravdanost božanskog prava kraljeva i vladavine privilegiranog malobrojnog stanovništva. Tisuće ljudi, uključujući kralja Louisa XVI. i kraljicu Mariju Antoanetu, izgubili su život na giljotini. Tijekom vladavine terora nastavili su se politički i građanski nemiri. Francuska je vlada poprimila mnoge oblike jer su ideje o slobodi, jednakosti i bratstvu prožimale naciju: apsolutna monarhija, ustavna monarhija, republika i diktatura. Napoleon Bonaparte, zapovjednik u francuskoj vojsci na kraju se etablirao kao vođa Francuske i postao prvi car. Trend pretvaranja monarhija u republike činio se nezaustavljivim nakon francuske revolucije.U ovom radu će biti prikazano razdoblje revolucije razgraničeno na dijelove: od 1789.-91., tj. do donošenja Ustava, razdoblje 1789.-92., tj. do ukidanja monarhije; razdoblje od 1789.-94., tj. do termidorskog prevrata i razdoblje 1789.-1799., tj. do prvog Carstva. Francuskom revolucijom oformila se ideologija jednog društva o prirodnim pravima ćovjeka, u znaku parole „sloboda, jednakost, bratstvo“ i najavila poredak kojega je subjekt slobodan čovjek, građanin. |
