Abstract
U ovom radu opisano je kako je nastala Europska unija, počevši od Europskih zajednica pa sve do Europske unije kakva je danas. Nadalje, navedene su institucije Europske unije. Zatim je objašnjeno što su to ljudska prava, kome pripadaju te zašto je došlo do potrebe donošenja pravnih dokumenata koje bi pružale zaštitu ljudskih prava i temeljnih sloboda. Navest će se koja prava pripadaju građanima Europske unije te koju ulogu u zaštiti i provedbi tih prava ima Vijeće Europe. U drugom dijelu rada navest će se koja prava osigurava Konvencija za zaštitu ljudskih prava i sloboda, a koja Povelja o temeljnim pravima Europske unije. Objasnit će se i uloga Europskog instrumenta za demokraciju i zaštitu ljudskih prava. Na kraju rada navest će se sastav i ustrojstvo Europskog suda za ljudska prava te način na koji je moguće podnijeti zahtjev za pokretanje postupka pred Europskim sudom za ljudska prava.
Abstract (english)
This paper describes how the European Union was created, starting with the European Communities to the European Union as it is today. Furthermore, the institutions of the European Union are mentioned. Then it was explained what human rights were for whom they were made and why it was necessary to adopt legal documents that would provide protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms. There will be a reference to the right of citizens of the European Union and the role of the Council of Europe in the protection and implementation of these competences. In the second part of the paper, it will be mentioned which rights are enshrined in the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms and which is the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union. The role of the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights will also be explained. At the end of the work, the composition and organization of the European Court of Human Rights will be announced and the manner in which it is possible to apply for a proceeding before the European Court of Human Rights.
