The paper "A phenomenological analysis of violence against children with special reference to the case-law“, starting from the historical aspect, clarifies the phenomenon of violence against children as a particularly vulnerable social group. In this regard, by problematizing infanticide as the earliest recognized form of violence, the recognition of other, now-known forms of violence is being explained. Furthermore, for the purpose of understanding the term violence, not only are several definitions of violence being presentedbut also the difference between violence, bullying and abuse is being clarified. In addition, the paper deals with the interpretation of the normative regulation of the phenomenon of violence at the national and international level. In view of the above, the basic documents and legal provisions regulating and sanctioning violence against children are being presented. Therefore, special emphasis was placed on family law, criminal law and misdemeanor provisions of the national law. In addition, the paper clarifies the different forms of violence with the interpretation of the causal link between each form of violence. Thus, physical violence, psychological or emotional violence, sexual violence, neglect and economic violence are being displayed and portrayed. The phenomenon of violence is being explained through an ecologically integrative model with clarification of each component of the mentioned model. Regarding the normative framework of the phenomenon of violence, this paper analyzes in a particular way the case law of the ordinary criminal courts and the European Court of Human Rights.
