This thesis explores the complex dynamic between women's rights and the persecution of witches, which marked European history from the 13th to the 18th century. Throughout history, women's rights have often been misunderstood, abused and systematically persecuted, especially during the witch hunts, when many women were victims of cruel accusations, torture and isolation. The phenomenon of witchcraft reveals the complexity of social and cultural changes throughout history. The persecution of witches left a deep trail of suffering and injustice, with the innocent, especially women, becoming victims of cruel and unfounded accusations. The analysis of that period provides an important lesson about the dangers of collective hysteria, prejudice and unfair judicial procedures, and emphasizes the responsibility to preserve fundamental human rights. The paper analyzes how stereotypes of women as evil beings with magical powers influenced the legal systems of the time and served as the basis for witch persecutions, and how these events shaped the social position of women and their fundamental rights. In addition to the historical context, the paper looks at the impact of the persecution of witches on the contemporary understanding of women's rights and the fight against prejudice and discrimination, legal regulation and sources of witchcraft in Croatia, the most famous cases of persecution in Europe, the trial process, the end of the persecution of witches, and a conclusion that summarizes the most important states.
