Abstract
Rimsko Carstvo ostavilo je snažan utjecaj na čitavu Europu, od svog osnutka do propasti, a što se očitovalo širenjem raznolikosti, kulture, religije i baštine. Osnovana 133. godine uz obalu rijeke Drave, potaknuta izradom mostova i utvrda, kolonija Mursa imala je znatnu ulogu obrane za vrijeme otomanskih prodora, stalno naseljena vojskom još od doba Augusta i Tiberija, kao i povezivnja Dunavske granice Carstva s ostatkom Panonije. Kao takva je oblikovana rimskom kulturom, te je potaknuta izgradnja termi, amfiteatra i foruma koji su privlačili ljude iz svih krajeva, stvarajući ono što je danas šire područje Osijeka. Prije samih arheoloških istraživanja, na području središta Murse izgrađen je današnji Donji grad, a većina materijala iskorištena je za zidanje novih objekata, što čini točan prikaz kolonije opskurnim. Usprkos protoku vremena, Mursa kao rimska vojna kolonijalna sila nije ostala zaboravljena, te se i dan danas otkrivaju novi detalji koji nas povezuju s njezinom povijesti.
Abstract (english)
The Roman Empire left a strong impact on the whole of Europe, from its foundation to its fall, which was manifested in the spread of diversity, culture, religion and heritage. Founded in the year 133 along the banks of river Drava, encouraged by the construction of bridges and forts, the colony of Mursa had a significant role in defense against Ottoman incursions, constantly inhabit-ed by the army since the time of Augustus and Tiberius, as well as connecting Danube borders of the Empire with the rest of Pannonia. As such, it was shaped by Roman culture, followed by construction of thermal baths, amphitheaters and forums which attracted people from all over, creating what is today known as the wider area of Osijek. Before the archeological research took place, today's Lower Town was built in the area of the center of Mursa and most of the materials were used for the construction of new buildings, which makes the exact representation of the colony obscure. Despite the passage of time, Mursa as Roman military colonial power has not been forgotten, and even today new details are being discovered that connect us with its history.
