The aim of this work was to find out the role of the Internet and social networks in the formation of the identity of young people using a qualitative research method. The research was conducted on a sample of 10 participants - 5 men and 5 women in the age range of 18 to 25. For the purposes of the research, a semi-structured interview. The obtained results are presented from the perspective of the participants and their opinions about today's youth, as well as the participants' own experiences. The participants believe that today's youth have an unrealistic image of reality as a result of imposed standards, and many also talk about their own experiences of dissatisfaction with their physical appearance due to the influence of the Internet and social networks. In addition, the participants believe that influencers have an extremely large and negative influence on today's youth, and this is reflected in their perception of themselves. Susceptibility to the impact of influencers is most often recognized by the interviewees through the fashion style and the way young people communicate. As the main motives for using the Internet and social networks, the participants cite easy availability of information, communication and entertainment. Participants visit social networks most often. Furthermore, the majority of participants state that they do not know which information on the Internet to trust and which not to. Participants believe that young people resort to avoidance and failure to resist pressure when it comes to imposed standards and that they excessively want to be liked by others, and they believe that open communication with parents is necessary in order to protect young people from harmful content on the Internet and social networks.
