Abstract
Svaki pojedinac ima u posjedu stvari neprocjenjive vrijednosti. To mogu biti slike, zvučni zapisi, pa čak i videozapisi. Za okolinu je možda obična stvar, ali za tog pojedinca je možda neprocjenjiva. Ukoliko se uspostavi da je stvar koju pojedinac posjeduje kod sebe velike vrijednosti, nadležne ustanove mogu pokazati interes da pribave u svoje vlasništvo. S takvim postupanjem se otvaraju nove mogućnosti - hoće li pojedinac odgovorno čuvati svoju stvar kao imatelj ili će ju predati ustanovama zvanim arhivima koje će odgovorno čuvati stvar kao neprocjenjivo gradivo? Čuvanje arhivske građe je prošlo kroz dugi put brijegova i dolova, a Hrvatska se ističe po tome što je kroz povijest, posebice Domovinski rat, pokazala koliko su arhivi i arhivsko gradivo važni za opstanak civilizacije.
Abstract (english)
Each individual possesses invaluable items. Those items can be pictures, audio files and even videos. For the surroundings it may be an ordinary item, but for the individual it may be invaluable. If it gets established that the item which the individual possesses is of high value, the competent institutions can show interest to obtain it into their possession. With that kind of practice new possibilities are being opened - will the individual responsibly care for his item as a holder or will he hand it over to the institutions called archives which will guard the item as an invaluable matter? Guarding the archival materials has passed through a long path of hills and valleys, and Croatia stands out in it in it´s history, especially the Croatian War of Independence, which showed how much the archives and the archive materials are important for the survival of the civilization.
