The subject of the paper is a careful analysis of the Ministry of the Interior, more specifically the police as its central service. The police, as a body of internal affairs, in addition to the obligations to protect the constitutional and legal order, preserve property and protect the lives of the citizens of the Republic of Croatia, has the obligation to perform tasks within its powers. The supervisory activity that is carried out must be with the remark that the one who supervises also has his supervisor who wholeheartedly watches over the performance of police work tasks and obligations. The development of democratic standards in a democratic society establishes civilian oversight from the aspect of the bodies of the Council and the Commission, which emphasize the importance of the police in the role of serving all its citizens. Any form of deviation by an individual police officer who is responsible for his work by name and surname as an individual, puts the primacy of supervision through the prism of possible intentional or negligent arbitrary errors for which in a particularly enforceable disciplinary procedure is responsible, where other procedures such as criminal or misdemeanor proceedings which do not preclude the conduct of disciplinary proceedings as such. In addition to implementing positive regulations, a police officer is obliged to respect the code of ethics of police officers in working with parties, citizens and mutual relations with other police officers, which is taken into account when evaluating all activities through the annual evaluation of police officers.
