The topic of this paper is the Offices of the Government of the Republic of Croatia with special emphasis on the Office for Gender Equality of the Government of the Republic of Croatia. With this in mind, the guiding star of this paper will be gender equality. Research shows that discrimination, in any form, in most cases affects women. The vision of the Office for Gender Equality is to create a society in which men and women are equally present in all spheres of private and public life, have equal status and equal opportunities to exercise their rights and equal benefit from the results achieved, thus creating a society free of gender discrimination. In creating this society, the Office for Gender Equality is guided by its own programs and strategies, as well as guidelines and strategic documents of the European Union, which we will list in the final part of the paper. The scope of work of the Office is prescribed by the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Croatia on the Office for Gender Equality and the Decree amending the Decree on the Office for Gender Equality and Article 18. Paragraph 2. of the Gender Equality Act. In this paper, we will briefly explain the scope of work and composition of the Government of the Republic of Croatia and list the Government Commissions with reference to the Gender Equality Ombudsman. In the continuation, we will list the Government Offices, and before a more detailed review of the Government Office for Gender Equality, we will briefly address the vision of the European Union in the fight for equality between men and women, and the promoting of gender equality and strengthening the position of women in the Republic of Croatia.
