Abstract
Materijalno siromaštvo prisutno je od samih početaka razvoja društva, kao i danas, no određene skupine ljudi izložene su većem riziku od siromaštva u usporedbi s ostatkom populacije. Osobe s invaliditetom tako nailaze na prepreke već u samom djetinjstvu prilikom uključivanja u sustav obrazovanja te kasnije u životu kada se požele zaposliti. Nedostaci u sustavu obrazovanja i zaposlenja, kao i predrasude u društvu te manjak razumijevanja i svijesti o osobama s invaliditetom značajno utječu na ostvarivanje ljudskog prava samostalnog i dostojanstvenog života koje mora biti zagarantirano svakom pojedincu na jednakoj razini s ostalima. Napori za ostvarenjem potpune jednakosti osoba s invaliditetom s ostatkom društva još uvijek traju, no manjak volje ključnih ljudi za rješavanje problema evidentan je što značajno otežava proces.
Abstract (english)
Material poverty has been present since the very beginning of the development of society, as it is today, but certain groups of people are exposed to a higher risk of poverty compared to the rest of the population. People with disabilities thus encounter obstacles as early as childhood in joining the education system and later in life when they want to get a job. Deficiencies in the education and employment system, as well as prejudices in society and lack of understanding and awareness of people with disabilities significantly affect the realization of the human right to independent and dignified life, which must be guaranteed to each individual on an equal footing. Efforts to achieve full equality of persons with disabilities with the rest of society are still ongoing, but the lack of will of key people to solve the problem is evident, which significantly complicates the process.
