After the significant revolution of 1848-49 which implicitly affected Croatia and Slavonia a system of a rule known as the Bach absolutism came into force. The system presented a system of rule in the Habsburg Monarchy over a decade after the revolution in Paris. This system of government is named after the Minister of the Interior, Alexander Bach. They characterized Croatia from a political point of view, that the Bansko Council and the Croatian Parliament were dissolved, arms were introduced, and the self-governing county was abolished. The era of open absolutism began in 1852, and Croatia was, from a legal point of view, equal to all Austrian countries. The consequences for the Croatian people were fatal, namely, the use of the Croatian establishment was forbidden, there was a gradual introduction of Germanization and encroachment into the Croatian language. Bach's absolutism had a negative impact on the politicians of the Illyrian movement. During absolutism, every effort has been made to build a basic policy that will, by abolition, become the leading foundation for establishing political development. Thus, building the foundation and creating the conditions for formation of modern Croatia. With the passing of the October diploma in 1860 by emperor Francis Joseph I, and the defeat of the Austrian army in Italy at the battlefields of Magenta and Solferino, Bach's absolutism was abolished.
