Abstract
Javna diplomacija se pojavila u gotovo jednakom povijesnom periodu kao i tradicionalna diplomacija. Ona ni danas nije definirana, ali postoje mnoga mišljenja o njenoj prirodi koje su navedene kroz rad. Uspjeh u diplomaciji se danas postiže otvornošću i međunarodnom suradnjom. Rad se također bavi odnosom javne diplomacije i brendiranja države, odnosom javne diplomacije i propagande, te medija i načinom na koji Europska unija koristi javnu diplomaciju kao princip vođenja međunarodnih odnosa, tvz. meka moć.
Abstract (english)
Public diplomacy has appeared in almost the same historical period as traditional diplomacy. It is still not defined, but there are many opinions about its nature that are listed in this thesis. Success in diplomacy today is achieved by openness and international cooperation. The thesis also deals with the relationship between public diplomacy and nation branding, relationship between public diplomacy and propaganda and the media, as well as the way in which the EU uses public diplomacy as a principle of conduct of international relations, so called soft power.
