Abstract
Margareth Thatcher je bila prva žena premijerka Velike Bitanije. Bila je premijerka s najdužim stažom, te je donijela kroz svoja 3 mandata političke odluke koje su i dandanas na vlasti. Njezin najveći doprinos bio je u pojmu neoliberalizam, jer je zagovarala uglavnom za masovnu privatizaciju, odvikavanje građana od ovisnosti o državi i slobodno tržište. Njezino razdoblje je popraćeno trendom feminizma koji još uvijek nije došao do svojega cilja, a to je ravnopravnost muškaraca i žena. Veliki broj ženskih pristaša je očekivao kako će sada kada je na vlasti žena, dobiti mnogo bolje uvjete i prava, ali to nije bio slučaj. Thatcher je svoju poziciju koristila većinski za političke odluke, a ne feminističke. Utjecaji na ženska prava su bili mali, ali sa svojom osobnošću drugim ženama bila je veliki uzor, najviše zbog njenih snažnih uvjerenja, jake političke volje i samoodgovornosti. Margareth Thatcher je u 21. stoljeću postavila ekonomsku i ideološku osnovu koja će ostati zapamćena.
Abstract (english)
Margaret Thatcher was the first female Prime Minister of Great Britain. She held the office for the longest duration, and through her three terms, she made political decisions that still influence policies today. Her greatest contribution was in the concept of neoliberalism, advocating mainly for mass privatization, weaning citizens off dependence on the state, and promoting free markets. Her era coincided with the trend of feminism, which had not yet achieved its goal of gender equality. Many female supporters expected that with a woman in power, they would receive better conditions and rights, but this was not the case. Thatcher used her position primarily for political decisions rather than feminist ones. While her impact on women's rights was minimal, her personality served as a significant role model for other women, primarily due to her strong convictions, political will, and self-reliance. Margaret Thatcher set the economic and ideological foundation in the 21st century that will be remembered.
