Abstract
Starenje se promatra kao proces u kojem se događaju promjene u funkciji dobi, a starost označava posljednje razdoblje u životu pojedinca. Povećanjem životne dobi dolazi do promjena u organizmu koje rezultiraju slabljenjem funkcionalne sposobnosti osobe i razvoja bolesti koja povećava ovisnost o drugima. Uz ovisnost starijih osoba o članovima obitelji veže se pojam obiteljskog nasilja. Nasilje usmjereno prema starijim osobama uključuje različite oblike ponašanja koji se negativno odražavaju na stariju osobu. Nasilničko se ponašanje može pojavljivati u nekoliko oblika kao što su fizičko, psihičko, financijsko i seksualno nasilje te zanemarivanje. Zbog nemogućnosti starijih osoba da se samostalno zaštite od nasilja, važna je uloga multidisciplinarnih timova koji uključuju više stručnjaka iz različitih područja znanosti. Njihov rad usmjeren je na prevenciju nasilja i osmišljavanja i provođenje preventivnih programa. Obzirom na nepostojanje specifičnog zakona koji se odnosi na zaštitu starijih osoba od nasilja, one se pozivaju na zaštitu svojih prava kroz sustav opće zaštite ljudskih prava. Sukladno tome, zakoni bi se trebali više usmjeriti na pružanje potpore i ostvarivanje prava osoba starije životne dobi s ciljem pružanja pomoći i podrške starijoj osobi.
Abstract (english)
Ageing is seen as a process in which changes occur in the function of age, and old age marks the last period in the life of an individual. An increase in life expectancy causes changes in the body resulting in a weakening of the functional ability of a person and the development of a disease that increases dependence on others. The concept of domestic violence is associated with the dependence of the elderly on family members. Violence towards the elderly involves different behaviours that negatively affect the elderly. Violent behaviour can occur in several forms such as physical, mental, financial, and sexual violence and neglect. Due to the inability of the elderly to protect themselves from violence, the role of multidisciplinary teams involving several experts in various fields of science is important. Their work is aimed at preventing violence and designing and implementing preventive programmes. Since there is no specific law relating to the protection of the elderly against violence, they are called for protection of their rights through the system of universal protection of human rights. Accordingly, the laws should focus more on providing support and exercising the rights of older people with the aim of providing assistance and support to the elderly.
