According to data from the Office of Children's Ombudsman, it can be seen that peer violence has decreased in numbers in the last two years compared to previous years. The reason for this is the coronavirus pandemic and online and hybrid teaching. Peer violence is regulated by the Constitution of the Republic of Croatia, the Family Act, the Primary and Secondary School Education Act, the Social Welfare Act and the National Strategy for Protection against Domestic Violence, for the period from 2017 to 2022. Civil society organizations, as well as UNICEF and prominent experts, play a very important role. Children who are victims of peer violence face various consequences that affect their further functioning, growth and development. Peer violence that takes place inside the school spreads via the internet and is defined as electronic violence. In order to protect children and young people, preventive programs enable education about violence in general and internet violence, education of teachers, parents and children and adolescents. The Protocol on the Procedure in case of Violence among Children and Adolescents adopted in 2004 by the Government of the Republic of Croatia aims to sensitize experts, parents, children and adolescents and establish solutions related to prevention. The challenges of protecting children from electronic and traditional violence are related to insufficient involvement in preventive programs and a lack of funds for their implementation.
