Abstract
Starije osobe čine veliki udio stanovništva u svijetu, ali i u Republici Hrvatskoj. Starenje možemo definirati kao normalan fiziološki proces te sastavni dio života. Svako razdoblje u životu donosi određene promjene, kako fizičke tako i psihičke. Svjedoci smo vrlo čestog marginaliziranja starijih osoba na osnovu njihovih godina, određenih karakteristika i psiho-fizičkog stanja. U prvom dijelu rada definirati će se starenje, pojam ageisma te starost kao posljednje razdoblje života. Prikazati će se teorije starenja, definirati i prikazati koje predrasude i stereotipi postoje o osobama starije životne dobi, prikazati će se kakvi su međugeneracijski odnosi koji su vrlo važan segment života u starijoj životnoj dobi te pregled dosadašnjih istraživanja na istu temu. Cilj ovog istraživanja je istražiti kakav utjecaj imaju stavovi mladih o osobama starije životne dobi na međugeneracijske odnose. Pri tome će se posebno vidjeti kakvu mladi dozu senzibiliteta imaju prema osobama starije životne dobi te kako su mladi uključeni u živote starijih osoba. Kvalitetni međugeneracijski odnosi i skrb za starije osobe zadatak je i odgovornost društva, rezultati istraživanja prikazali su da ne postoji razlika u stavovima između mladih osoba koje žive ili su živjele u kućanstvu sa starijom osobom od onih koji ne žive. Osim toga, prikazana je i doza senzibiliteta koju mlade osobe imaju prema starijima. Buduća istraživanja trebala bi uključivati djecu, adolescente i mlade osobe kako bi se vidjelo postoji li razlika u stavovima između djece i adolescenata koji tek formiraju mišljenje o starijim osobama od mladih osoba koje imaju formirano mišljenje. Prijedlog za socijalni rad uključuje provedbu edukacije djece i adolescenata o starosti i starenju kako bi se na taj način prevenirala diskriminacija i stereotipiziranje starijih osoba u kasnijoj dobi.
Abstract (english)
Older people make up a large proportion of the population in the world, but also in the Republic of Croatia. Aging can be defined as a normal physiological process and an integral part of life. Each period in life brings certain changes, both physical and psychological. We are witnessing the very frequent marginalization of the older people based on their age, certain characteristics and psycho-physical condition. In the first part of the paper, aging, the concept of ageism and old age as the last period of life will be defined. Theories of aging will be presented, the prejudices and stereotypes that exist about older people will be defined and shown, the intergenerational relationships that are a very important segment of life in the older people will be presented, and an overview of previous research on the same topic will be presented. Quality intergenerational relations and care for the older people is the task and responsibility of society, the research results showed that there is no difference in attitudes between young people who live or have lived in a household with an older person compared to those who do not. In addition, the dose of sensibility that young people have towards the older people is shown. Future research should include children, adolescents, and young people to see if there is a difference in attitudes between children and adolescents who are just forming opinions about older people than young people who have formed opinions. The proposal for social work includes the implementation of education of children and adolescents about age and aging in order to prevent discrimination and stereotyping of older people in later life.
