The issue of availability and publicity of information is one of the most important areas of interest of society. Research, writing various works, but also the most common curiosity are one of the reasons for searching and getting acquainted with a certain area and part of the archive material. Archival science as a separate scientific discipline is given the task of adapting its business and functioning to a new dynamic way of life and it is necessary to harmonize it with the times of today. When it comes to archival treasure, we can say that it is much more than large dark spaces full of various books and papers. Archives today represent the historical foundation of culture, customs and life of society. The archival activity is increasingly turning to the electronic form of storage of archival material with the aim of easier access, search and use. Archives today operate in an uncertain and fluid time that is changing, advancing and leaving the task of aligning the traditional with the modern. The archives are expected to adapt to the new and respond to the various influences they face. Such impacts are considered technological achievements, social changes, comparison with other service activities, new services at the service of citizens, creation of so-called E-government, etc. Strengthening and creating a single electronic service E-Croatia communication and data exchange will be easy and possible. In doing so, care should be taken to protect personal data and establish a high level of citizens' trust in the institutions that will conduct electronic business. Archival material is regulated by legal regulations that precisely prescribe the rules of storage, protection, but also the methods of use and for what purposes. Responding to the demands of society, archives provide the role of data protectors with novelties in line with the times such as IT technology. Archival material significantly contributes to the cultural life and formation of a certain community, and attracts an increasing number of interested citizens.
