The introduction of the euro as the official currency in the Republic of Croatia is one of the strategic goals. As this issue is currently relevant, especially after Croatia's entry into the European Exchange Rate Mechanism ERM II, it was very important to learn more about the very beginnings of the euro as a currency. Which are the reasons for the emergence of a new currency that will change economic flows in the European Union (EU) and is its application adequate in the Republic of Croatia, will we have more benefits or harms from the introduction of the euro and what are the possible scenarios after the introduction of the euro, these are questions that have been answered. In this paper, available literature as well as internet sources were used, but current events on the domestic political scene were also monitored, since this issue is very topical. Studying the experiences of European members that have introduced the euro as their official currency with analyzes presented to us by the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Croatian National Bank in their Strategy for the Introduction of the Euro as the Official Currency in the Republic of Croatia, the assumption is that Croatia will benefit more from the introduction of the euro than the costs of such a process.
