The right to inherit is guaranteed by the Constitution as one of the fundamental civil liberties and rights. The legal foundation for inheritance can be the law and the will. The will is a one-sided, explicit and personal manifestation of the will of the testator, given at disposal in the case of his death and everyone has the right to appoint an inheritor in the case of one's death. Wills were known even in the oldest laws and numerous codifications, especially in Roman law, where the forms and assumptions for their validity changed over time and because of different social conditions but most of the elements were retained in today's legislations. In order for the will to be valid, it is necessary to cumulatively fulfill the material and formal legal presuppositions. In my thesis I have explained the term and characteristics of the will, its content and the assumptions of validity. I have explained public wills in more detail, both public and international will. I have also explained how they are created and how the public will can be given the form of an international will and what is the difference in comparison to a public will.
